Summer Term:
Our topic this term

What Makes Britain Great?

If you have been absent look below for catch up activities you can do at home! Once you do the work don't forget to bring it in!

English

This term we are reading 'Simon Sock' by Sue Hendre and 'George's Marvellous Medicine' by Roald Dahl.  We will be writng lots of exciting potions, character descriptions and extending our vocabulary. We will be learning about nouns and adjectives and writing some interesting noun phrases.  If you have any books or information about potions or magic at home please bring it into to school to share.

Maths

This half term we will  consolidate what we know about addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and use these to solve word problems. We will be doing reasoning problems to secure our understanding of what we have learnt.

Please help your children to learn their 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables.

Topic

This term we are looking at 'What makes Britain great?' and famous people who have influenced Britain. We will be focusing on the 1990's and learning about significant events in Britain in that era. We are also going to be looking at Cheshire Oaks and how it has impacted Ellesmere Port since the 1990's.

Catch up activities

English

Can you write your own potion to time travel to the 90's?

Maths

Can you count to 30 in 3s?

Reading

Each day we expect the children to bring their book bags with their reading books and diary so they can read to an adult at school. The children will be expected to read at home on a daily basis and parents to write a comment in their diaries. Once the children have read their book they can change it independently from the basket in the classroom.

Homework

This will be given every Friday and it will consist of Maths or Literacy. The children will be expected to return their completed homework by the following Thursday.

We are also sending out weekly spellings, please make sure you are going over these with your child.

We also expect children to read each night and for a comment to be added in their reading record.

PE Days

On Monday and Tuesdays we have P.E. so please ensure your child has their full P.E. kit in school, (tshirt, shorts, pumps) all earrings must be removed or covered up.  New PE Kits are available to buy from the school office.

We look forward to each and everyday in Year 2 and hope that all of the children enjoy their time with us as we continue to Achieve Excellence.

We are on Twitter and the children will be tweeting thoughtout the day! Don't forget to follow us.

Thank you
